Ranking The 2012-2013 Philadelphia Flyers: #21-19

By David A. Cattai

Yesterday we talked about the 3 players who could find themselves some playing time for the Philadelphia Flyers if an injury or two were to occur. Today, we will look at another three Flyers who have a good shot at playing minimum minutes on the Flyers’ roster.

21. Zac Rinaldo (C): Rinaldo is the kind of player that can get the crowd into a game. Whether it is a big hit or starting a fight, Rinaldo is always able to grab the audiences’ attention. Sometimes though, this is a bad thing. Most likely, Rinaldo will have the role as an enforcer on the 4th line this season. In 66 games last season, Rinaldo recorded 9 points but had 232 penalty minutes. Some of the penalties were unnecessary, but his physical play helped a good amount. Look for Rinaldo to play a decent amount of minutes off of the 4th line.

20. Erik Gustafsson (D): Youth is not the problem for the Flyers this season. Gustafsson is another young defenseman that the Flyers have in their organization. He will definitely have a chance to play due to injuries to Andrej Meszaros and Andreas Lilja. In 30 games last season, Gustafsson only recorded 5 points but he did play pretty well overall. Gustafsson will have a real shot to be on the active roster but the 23-year old needs to show why he belongs on the roster.

19. Eric Wellwood (LW): Wellwood might be the most interesting young player that they have in their system. Last season he played in 24 regular season games and also 11 playoff games. In that time, Wellwood showed that he was not only fast, but that he may be one of the fastest players in the NHL. He has a shot to play on the 3rd or 4th line, but his speed may get him more opportunities to produce in what could possibly be his first full NHL season.
