The Dallas Stars got embarrassed by the Minnesota Wild on Monday night, and by the time the two teams meet again on Friday they will have had plenty of time to sit around and think about it. After playing two strong periods, the Stars allowed three third-period goals to the Wild, which led to a 7-4 loss and a lot of questions.

The Stars made some big roster moves this week, trading captain Brenden Morrow to the Pittsburgh Penguins and sending forwards Reilly Smith and Joe Morrow to their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars. After a loss like that, moves were to be expected and the team now gets several days to practice and be ready to get some revenge on the Wild. Alex Goligoski, Jaromir Jagr, Trevor Daley and Philip Larsen scored for the Stars, good enough for them to be tied at 4-4 early in the third period. It was from that point on that things would go south, as costly turnovers, and giving up a shorthanded goal were major factors in the third period collapse.

Kari Lehtonen was in net for six of the Minnesota goals, and finished the night with 35 saves. As his up-and-down month continues, it has to be hard for the Stars to know what kind of performance they can expect from him on a nightly basis. Since being pulled in the midst of an 8-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Mar. 16, he is 3-2 while giving up 15 goals.

If the Stars want to avenge their early-week loss, they need to come out with some strong scoring, get a strong performance from Lehtonen and play a full 60 minutes.
