The New York Rangers needed to play a better all-around game to at least get some confidence back. They played better, but still dropped the game 5-3 to the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are one of the better teams in the NHL and they played a great game, chasing goaltender Martin Biron and dominated the last 10 minutes of the third period for the win.
The Rangers did some good things in this game. For starters, the power play looked great. For the first time in god knows how long, the Rangers kept the puck in the offensive zone for the duration of the power play. This is something that the Rangers have struggled with so much over the last few seasons.

They also added two power play goals. They were shooting from everywhere, and the power play should only get better once Rick Nash returns.
Another bright spot was the forecheck at times. The Rangers got the cycle going and established some long shifts in the Blues zone. The last positive from this game has to be Brad Richards. Richards looks like he has gotten his confidence back and is making the plays that earned him the large contract that brought him to New York. He must continue his play if the Rangers want to get the ship turned around.
The Rangers still struggled defensively having a bunch of mental lapses. These mistakes must be corrected, but the Rangers played a much better game on Saturday night.
