Carl Hagelin is one of the New York Rangers‘ most important players. He is the fastest player on the team, and when he is on his game, he creates more offense than most other players for the Rangers. But for some reason, Alain Vigneault has been keeping Hagelin on the fourth line.
Hagelin is starting to find his game after playing inconsistent hockey for five to eight games. It was not just Hagelin that was playing poorly, but the whole Rangers team. But now, Hagelin is starting to heat up; he has scored a goal in consecutive games and is creating a lot of offense.
Vigneault needs to have Hagelin on the top two lines. Hagelin scored one of the best goals you will see by absolutely toasting the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ defense by using his crazy speed. He moved Hagelin to the first line with Derek Stepan and Rick Nash in the third period of last night’s game against the Penguins. Hagelin would draw the penalty that would lead to the eventual game-tying goal by Derick Brassard.
I think it is safe to say that Hagelin will be starting on the line with Nash and Stepan for the Rangers’ next game against the New York Islanders. The Rangers are starting to show a lot of passion and heart when they play, and it is no coincidence that Hagelin is playing well. He is, by far, one of the most important players on the team and deserves to get ice time like those top players.
If Hagelin can keep his play up, the Rangers are going to turn things around. He is a spark plug and makes this team better in every area when he is playing well.
