The Dallas Stars were a Stanley Cup contender on many analysts' lists prior to this season. They ended up second-to-last in the Central Division. There needs to be some moves made to fix the glaring holes on this team. They ranked second in the league in scoring, but still couldn't make the playoffs. These five players would help turn that around next season.

Tomas Kopecky is the NHL's Swiss army knife. The Stars were desperately missing a forward who could stop the other team from scoring. Kopecky could easily slip into that role. The best part is he could do it from any line.

This may look like a curious move with how poorly Martin St. Louis played this season, but he brings 16 years of NHL experience to a locker room. He still has something left in the tank, which he showed with his 21 goals during the regular season. He could even be brought in around November to play around 60 games so he can stay fresh for the playoffs.

The Stars need defensive help. That is one of the most obvious statements of this offseason. Robyn Regehr would do great at fixing the defense while not costing the Stars an arm and a leg. He can't be their only signing, but he would definitely add to the team's prowess on the blue line.

The Stars are losing their backup goalie. With the question marks surrounding Kari Lehtonen, they need a really good one. Thomas Greiss is a very good backup goalie. He was only given a one-year deal by the Pittsburgh Penguins, so he is back on the market. The Stars need to pick him up.

Paul Martin is one of the best defensemen on the market. The current build of the Stars may remind him of the Pens when he first signed there. He probably has dreams this could be his ticket to another Stanley Cup. He will bring the idea that missing the playoffs is unacceptable, as he's never done it in his career. He wants to win a Cup, because he has not been able to get that just yet.
