The Dallas Stars have been very competitive in their history, winning seven division championships, two President's Trophies, two conference championships and a Stanley Cup during their 1998-99 campaign. They were very active this offseason bolstering their lineup, with aspirations of winning another title. The following five things have been observed about this hockey club so far this year.

99 seconds into the new season for the Dallas Stars, Janmark potted his first goal. The former Detroit Red Wings' 2013 draft pick has four points in five games. He is also a great secondary center to play behind the likes of Jason Spezza, Jamie Benn, Patrick Sharp and Tyler Seguin.

Kari Lehtonen, age 31, was the team's starter last year, winning 34 of his 65 starts last season. He has won his first three starts this fall, proving his value as a starter. The Stars upgraded their goaltending, acquiring Antti Niemi from the San Jose Sharks. At the age of 32, Niemi comes to the Stars winning 31 games a year ago and proving to be an adequate backup to Lehtonen.

The trio has put up 23 points, as the Dallas Stars' top line, over the course of five games. The Stars have finally found guys capable of putting pucks in the back of nets, a feared menacing line to maintain. Their scoring will probably slowly down at some point, but so far they have been dynamite together.

GM Jim Nill has stepped into his role as the team's manager in April, 2013. His previous experience was with the Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings. After years of success as an assistant with Detroit, he appears to have turned Dallas into a successful franchise. The team has won four of the first five starts of the new season under his direction.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars worked together and constructed a blockbuster deal sending Sharp to Dallas. After five games with the Dallas Stars, he has only two assists. There were big expectations with Sharp's arrival. But as of yet, he has not found the back of the net wearing the Stars' colors.
