The Blue Jackets franchise and their fans are probably already wishing that the 2015-16 season concluded on October 31. Things have not gone well with the team and they have already replaced their head coach, Todd Richards with the volatile John Tortorella. Changes clearly have to come to the Ohio franchise and the following five names should be dealt prior to the February 29 NHL Trade Deadline.

Last season the Jackets made a big surprise transaction acquiring David Clarkson from the Toronto Maple Leafs. This transaction was a disaster for Columbus and a 'steal' for Toronto. They probably won't be able to get any valuable asset back in return, but he should no longer be part of the Columbus hockey club.

Unless the Columbus Blue Jackets go on an insane winning streak, we can be safe to assume that there will be no NHL playoff hockey in Ohio. Hartnell has had a great career with the Philadelphia Flyers and he could be a valuable contribution the Jackets could move for some youth or draft picks.

Yes, I know Foligno is the newly anointed captain of the franchise prior to the start of this campaign. However, nobody knew at that time how the season would play out at Nationwide Arena. With Tortorella on board, nobody is secure with the franchise. Foligno is a definite trade chip that could be used.

2. Sergei Bobrovsky

Bobrovsky was dealt in June, 2012 from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Jackets to be their starting goalie. He led the team to six playoff games during the 2012-13 campaign and proved his detractors wrong. However, last season injuries caught up with the goaltender and the playoff success were a distant memory. The Jackets need to hit the reset button and already plan for the 2016-17 campaign with prospects. Deal the starting goalie now.

Already having coach Tortorella associated with the franchise, this has to be the clear cut obvious choice. Dubinsky has a prior relationship with the Jackets' head coach, when they were together in New York with the Rangers organization. Assuming the relationship is strained deep already, Dubinsky has to be moved.
