Dave Telep Expects Point Guard Tyus Jones To “Help a Team Reach the Final Four”

Tyus Jones NCAA Basketball: Michigan State at Minnesota

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Tyus Jones did not participate tonight in a three point contest that some had tweeted he would take part in, but we did get some nice Pioneer Press quotes from ESPN senior recruiting analyst Dave Telep.

He made the wise expectation that Jones will help whatever program he joins go to the Final Four. It probably does not hurt that he is a package recruiting deal with his good friend Jahlil Okafor. If they do end up playing together, then they would form the most highly rated package deal in NCAA history.

Had the good fortune to meet Telep at the National High School Invitational last spring, and he was a true gentleman. He also did a pretty fantastic job calling the games, which were featured on ESPNU, and the championship was even on one of the main networks.

If Telep is calling the games next year then we will be lucky indeed. Not sure if Minnesota is participating in the tournament, but they should because it has apparently been getting better year by year. That stands to reason that it will be even greater next season and seeing Jones try his luck against the best competition in the country would be quite a sight to see. Then once he gets to college, then we will see if Jones can make Telep right about the Final Four.
