Congratulations are in order for Jabari Parker who was named by ESPN as the preseason ACC rookie of the year, which is something I had predicted as well but oddly less people seem to care when I predict things than do when ESPN does. Funny how that works. Saw the news below and it is not surprising that point guard Tyler Ennis lost out on this one to the former Simeon star.

His teammates have certainly liked what they have seen out of Parker, and expect them to play fast next season. This is a good plan by the coaching staff, because Parker will be more effective in a game if given more opportunities to score. It will be interesting to see if they rely on the three pointer as much as in years past, but something tells me that this team will end up playing more in the post than people expect. Parker’s skills in the half court are beyond compare, and cannot wait to watch him show his wares next season.
“We’re just trying to teach him to take what the defense gives you,” Tyler Thornton said at ACC media day. “At this level, you don’t really have to make something happen. We’re going to have a lot of possessions. Coach wants us to score a lot. But Parker is really good and has done a great job of adapting.”
Parker will have trouble surpassing his splendid high school career, but if he can help the Blue Devils win the ACC this season then something tells me Blue Devil nation will be more than happy.
