Daniel Bryan Should Lose Beard On Road To WrestleMania

Assuming Daniel Bryan will ever actually return to WWE, there are a number of loose ends he has to tie up.

The first, of course, would be revenge on Kane, who put him out of action. If The Authority is still in power when he comes back, this can lead to a very fun storyline. Let’s say Bryan returns as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble and eliminates Kane. He ends up getting eliminated by Seth Rollins with help from Kane, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury. The following night on Monday Night RAW, Triple H announces that moving forward, all of Bryan’s matches will be contested with the stipulation that if he loses, the beard must go.

WrestleMania seems like it’s going to be locked up with Bryan not in the cards for a top slot, so this angle could give him something the fans can latch onto while somebody else holds the title on the top. I would have Bryan defeat Kane on Raw to close that chapter, then take out Rollins at the February PPV. Finally, at WrestleMania, he then gets a chance to right the wrong that happened at WrestleMania XXVIII and defeat Sheamus, who has turned heel and joined the Authority.

All along the way, each and every match Bryan has on TV has his beard on the line, and Triple H puts out a bounty that any man who can defeat Bryan can choose a shot at any title they wish. Bryan wins all of these matches, of course, even though the goons from The Authority’s “security” team attempt to cheat in just about every match along the way.

This leads to an interesting crossroads. I really believe that there is money in having the beard put on the line in matches, but I also think that the only way he should lose it is in a match with his facial hair on the line. It would seem like an anticlimactic waste if he just showed up one week on Raw with a trimmed or shaved beard.

So when does he lose it? It would make sense to have it shaved off on the road leading up to WrestleMania in order to add some adversity along the way.

The question that begs to be answered, then, is when does Bryan lose his signature beard?
