Finn Balor Says NXT Is Special, Wants To Stay

The current NXT Champion is coming off a successful title defense from the developmental brand’s most recent special event. At ‘Takeover: London’ we saw Finn Balor defeat tag partner turned rival Samoa Joe to retain NXT’s richest prize. It seems, however, that the title is quickly becoming an important part of pro wrestling as a whole, with NXT exploding as a powerhouse of creativity and athleticism that everybody wants to be a part of.

Shortly before the show took place, Balor expressed his wish to stick around as part of the NXT roster. Part of the draw may be that he gets to be a big fish in a pretty small pond, but he stated that he believes that NXT is special. The group is doing things that are going to be remembered and it is something that Finn Balor wants to be able to experience from the inside.

He’s correct in his assessment that the little brand that could is making history. People will remember the ‘NXT: Takeover’ era much more than the ‘please love Roman Reigns‘ era that is currently taking place on the main roster.

One would expect that a small bit of his thought process is a worry in the back of his mind that he will get the Bo Dallas or Neville treatment instead of the Kevin Owens/Shield push.

No matter the reason, the NXT roster is insanely strong with the right mix of veterans and upstarts to make everyone thrive. The show exposes WWE‘s biggest weakness, which, simply put, is how to maximize strengths and minimize weakness. There is a whole book that can be written about all of WWE’s current weak points, but the way to see the differences is just to flip on NXT. They know how to cover up weak points while working on fixing them off TV. WWE’s main roster has the same opportunity. Mask deficiencies on TV and correcting them on house shows.

Or just use phrases like “sufferin’ succotash” and “tater tots” on live worldwide television. Whatever sounds less stupid.
