NFL referee apology tour continues

Last week, NFL referee Bill Leavy admitted he blew some call and influenced the Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks. Now another referee has stepped forward and admitted he blew a call, and while it wasn’t in the Super Bowl, this call might have cost Chris Johnson the single season rushing record.
The buff Ed Hochuli has recently admitted that he blew a holding call last season which again involved the Seattle Seahawks. Hochuli threw a flag on Tennessee Titans FB Ahmard Hall and called him for holding on a play which Titans RB Chris Johnson went 62 yards on. Johnson finished the game with 2,006 yards, but if he had been awarded that 62 yard run, Johnson would have been very close to Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing mark and they admit they would have altered their offense in order for Johnson to achieve the record.
Hall, who was flagged, says he doesn’t harbor any resentment against Hochuli. Hall told reporters, “It’s big of him. Some guys won’t admit they’re wrong regardless if they are dead wrong. So that is a big deal, with the record that could’ve been and him being a prestigious referee, to admit he was wrong.”
I just find this odd with Hochuli and Leavy sending out apologies to players and teams for former mistakes. I don’t ever remember this happening before and I wonder what is prompting the NFL referee apology tour.
