The Washington Redskins released veteran running back Larry Johnson yesterday so what are the 3 possible destinations for him? How about the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers or the New Orleans Saints. All three teams have a need at the position but which team is the best fit for him?

The New Orleans Saints- The Saints lost their versatile running back Reggie Bush Monday night when he suffered a broken fibula. The Saints will now have to rely even more on Pierre Thomas, but Thomas has a history of getting banged up and missing a few games each season. Perhaps the Saints bring him in for a workout.

The New England Patriots- The Patriots suddenly find their running back field dwindling. Laurence Maroney is in Denver and Kevin Faulk is out for the season with a torn ACL. The Patriots seem to like to collect older running backs and make them fit the New England offense. I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up there.

The Green Bay Packers-This is the team with the most glaring need for a veteran back after Ryan Grant went down with torn tendons in his ankle. Brandon Jackson has filled nice adaquately for the time being but do the Packers really want to rely on this young player with limited playing time for the rest of the season? I think Johnson signs on with the Packers at some point this week.
