New Look Barcelona Need Time To Gel
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar need time to gel. Barcelona started off their season so strongly, keeping clean sheet after clean sheet until their Week 9 encounter in La Liga against Real Madrid in El Clasico. The loss against Celta Vigo means that Barca have now lost two games in a row that Suarez has participated.
There is no doubt that the three players leading the line for the Blaugrana are some of the best players in the world, but with such strong personalities, Suarez needs to be given time to acclimate with his new team.
Barca new kid Suarez made his debut in El Clasico, where he assisted Neymar and Barcelona’s only goal of the game. The former Liverpool striker was unable to make any further impact beyond his singular assist. Against Celta, Suarez looked overly eager to score himself and blew a number of chances for the Catalan side.
Luis Enrique is also faced with the unenviable task of replacing the aging Xavi Hernandez, who has been such a vital cog to Barca’s Tiki-Taka style.
With all the changes happening to Barcelona’s attack and midfield, it is no surprise then that the most impressive part of Barcelona’s performance so far has been their defensive consistency. However, against top sides’ like Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, defense alone is not enough.
The Catalan club have now lost two games in a row after their loss against minnows Celta Vigo and alarm bells are going off in the Camp Nou. With the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez, goals were never supposed be the issue for this Barcelona team, but the new look Barca need time to reach the heights that the club and fans all expect.
