2013 NCAA Tournament Video: No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast Shocks the College Basketball World

Here’s a fun fact: Florida Gulf Coast is currently the only team in NCAA Tournament history to have an undefeated record within the Big Dance.

Yes, the Eagles shocked the college basketball world on Friday night, stunning No. 2 Georgetown in convincing fashion. In just their second year of postseason eligibility, Florida Gulf Coast qualified for the NCAA Tournament by way of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. The Eagles made the most of their opportunity, becoming just the seventh 15 seed of all-time to advance forward into the Round of 32.

Sherwood Brown scored 24 points and Bernard Thompson chipped in with 23 points as the Eagles literally dominated the Hoyas on Friday. Florida Gulf Coast led by as much as 19 points at one time and despite a little bit of late push from the Hoyas; things were wrapped up fairly quickly.

The Eagles did not have the look as a 15 seed one bit, finishing and converting on back door dunks and alley oops. Florida Gulf Coast simply stole the show, that’s the bottom line.

Head coach Andy Enfield is quickly becoming a hot name on the coaching circuit and along with it comes the talk of his supermodel wife, Amanda Marcum. Friday night’s game aired on TBS and the network was seen showing Marcum, who has posed for Vogue and Maxim, on numerous occasions.

It’s not about Enfield’s wife anymore though; this story is all about the Eagles and their postseason shocker.

San Diego State, their third round opponent, needs to be well aware of the dangerous aspect that the Eagles can present on Sunday evening, but it’s pretty clear that they probably understand that now.
