2013 Fantasy Football Player Profile: Ryan Broyles Needs To Stay Healthy

Name: Ryan Broyles

Team: Detroit Lions

Position: Wide Receiver

Years Pro: 1

Draft Stock: (Dropping) Fantasy football owners always get nervous when it comes to players who are injured heading into the season. Since Broyles is on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to a torn ACL, many are shying away from him. Use this to your advantage if you’re interested in Broyles and snag him in one of the later rounds.

2012 fantasy impact: Broyles was supposed to be weened into his NFL career, but a torn left ACL didn’t allow him to see the field until Week 7 when he debuted with a touchdown and 51 yards against the Chicago Bears. However, his short-lived success was capped by a torn right ACL in week 13.

Best-case scenario: Broyles is ready for week 1 and plays without fear of his previously torn ACLs. Calvin Johnson draws the double teams and Stafford finds Broyles to the tune of double digit touchdowns.

Worst-case scenario: The injury bug bites Broyles once again. Depite a perfect opportunity alongside “Megatron,” Broyles is never able to find his niche.

Where you should draft him: Before taking Broyles: you need to be confident that he won’t be forced to miss the bulk of the season. If the Lions’ wide receiver is there in the 11th round than take a chance, but beware of his red flags.
