Danny Amendola Fantasy Football 2013 Profile: Patriots WR Must Stay Healthy

Name: Danny Amendola

Team: New England Patriots

Position: Wide Receiver

Years Pro: 4

Draft stock: (Rising) No Brandon Lloyd, No Aaron Hernandez, No Rob Gronkowski, No Wes Welker, No Danny Woodhead. I think it’s safe to say that Tom Brady is going to have to find some new offensive weapons in 2013. Danny Amendola is now being looked at as the Pats’ savoir, but his injury-riddled past is concerning many fantasy football owners. Even still, you’ll likely have to surrender a big-time draft pick for Amendola or someone else will.

2012 fantasy impact: Like usual, Amendola got all of our hopes up when he started 2012 with 31 catches and 44 targets in just the first four weeks! Then, injuries derailed Amendola’s season as a scary collarbone issue forced him to the sidelines and the St. Louis Rams simply used him as nothing more than a decoy.

Best-case scenario: Brady and Amendola click and the former looks like a younger, quicker and better version of Welker. An All-Pro season for Amendola in his first campaign in Foxborough makes the Pats one of the scariest teams in the AFC.

Worst-case scenario: New England no longer is the offensive powerhouse that we’ve seen in years past and Amendola’s fragility rears its ugly head once again.

Where you should draft him: If you are a risk-taking general manager who likes to look for breakout candidates, then Amendola is your man. However, if you like sure things — Roddy White — then don’t even bother with Amendola in the sixth round.
