It has been confirmed that Tim Tebow did indeed play with an injury during the Denver Broncos 45-10 loss in the Divisional Round vs. the New England Patriots. It was obvious that the injury was not the difference maker in the game, but what was not obvious is the amount of pain Tebow must have endured during the game without complaint or excuses. He may be tougher than we think. The reports of the injury state that Tebow did suffer from rib, lung, and chest injuries.

Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth didn’t detail the exact nature of Tebow’s injuries, but did confirm an earlier report from ESPN that Tebow was in considerable pain when he finished Saturday night’s game.

Tebow reportedly tore some rib cartilage and bruised his lung but continued to play. this resulted in a a build-up of fluid on his chest (during the game and afterwards).

After Tebow had struggled to sleep on Saturday and Sunday night, he reportedly underwent an MRI on Monday.

The injury occurred on a play when Tebow was sacked, backup Brady Quinn started to warm up, but Tebow never left the game.

Tebow has took a lot of hits this season ranking 40th in carries and sacked over 30 times. The reports say if Tebow and the Broncos had advanced to AFC Championship round that he would have been doubtful to play.

The injury is a serious injury, but it doesn’t appear that it is going to interfer with Tebow’s offseason program. He is really excited and eager to get started with the help of John Elway this offseason.

Tebow may not be the ideal pure passing QB, but in a league of high level competition, he is a competitor, and someone who at whatever position he plays I want him on my team!
