With NFL training camps coming to an end, the crazy stories of rookie hazing and cool post-practice events will start to slow down as well. However, Carolina Panthers wide out Steve Smith wins the teammate of the preseason award by arranging a shaved-ice truck to be there once the players broke the final huddle.

While it doesn’t seem like a big deal that this occurred, any little excitement that can be brought to a team after an exhausting practice is much appreciated. The same kind of thing happened earlier in training camp with the Baltimore Ravens being treated to an ice-cream truck following their practice.

Check out these pictures from the Panthers’ Twitter account following the surprise that Smith treated his team.

As you can see, the team morale has to be pretty high following an awesome act like this. A veteran like Smith knows all too well how much high team spirit off the field can mean on the field.

If the players get along and want to build a strong relationship with each other, then they will excel on the field. The Panthers may not be the best team in the NFL, but they have talent and a stellar quarterback in Cam Newton that could lead them to the postseason and maybe beyond.

I bet Smith is everyone’s new favorite teammate.
