2013-14 Week 4 College Football and NFL Picks

Week 4 Betting Picks

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Last weekend was a wild, crazy and very entertaining weekend in the sports world. In football, Alabama defeated Texas A&M in a game which lived up to the hype and Johnny Manziel lived up his Johnny Football billing by playing a great game despite the Aggies losing.

Additionally in the NFL, there were once again a handful of games that were decided on the final possession with Jay Cutler leading the Chicago Bears on a game-winning drive in a 31-30 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Outside of NCAA Football and NFL action, the biggest sporting event to take place was the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, where Mayweather dominated Alvarez in a majority decision win in a very sided fight (except to one judge). This weekend’s sports action will be quieter with no big-time game or marquee mega fight to take place. That said, there are still a few intriguing football games to watch.

As far as my picks last week, my results were a mixed bag. While I went 5-0 in my straight-up picks with Arizona State and the Bears holding off and pulling off late wins, I went a paltry 1-3-1 in my against the spread picks with UCLA being my lone winner. Sometimes, a break here, a block field goal there and a late backdoor cover works against you, and that’s what happened to me last weekend.

So far through three weeks, I am 13-2 in my straight-up picks and 7-7-1 in my ATS picks.

As always, these picks are for entertainment purposes only, knowing full well that many of you out there like to watch games and maybe make a wager or two. All the lines for my ATS picks are courtesy of Covers.com, while the lines for my bonus picks are from Bovada.lv. Here’s to a winning week in both pick categories.

Against The Spread Picks

Straight-Up Picks

Bonus Picks: In three soccer games to be played on Sunday, in Ligue 1 action between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and AS Monaco, take the draw at +250. In the English Premier League game between Manchester City and Manchester United, take the draw at +230. Finally, in the Serie A game between AC Milan and SSC Napoli, take Napoli to win at +160.
