Fantasy Football: Ray Rice Owners Should Pick Up Bernard Pierce Quickly

Injuries are always an issue in the NFL. From week to week, NFL fans and fantasy owners never know what will happen and how injuries will affect their teams.

During the fourth quarter of the Cleveland Browns-Baltimore Ravens game, Ray Rice went down very quickly on a run. On the play, it did not look like Rice was even touched. The early reports are saying that it is a hip injury and the team was taking Rice back to the locker room to be x-rayed and re-evaluated.

For any Ray Rice owners, or for owners looking to bolster their running back and flex position, listen up: you need to pick up Rice’s handcuff, Bernard Pierce.

In the game against the Browns, Pierce has looked very solid. Pierce finished with 57 rushing yards and a touchdown.

A hip injury is one that could leave Rice out for a long period of time. Even if he comes back fairly quickly, this could be an injury that could hinder Rice for the rest of the season. Pierce is also the type of player that may take this opportunity and run with it. He may, after this is all said and done, be the new starting running back in Baltimore.

Regardless of the time frame, Pierce is going to be a hot item this week on the waiver wire. It would be in your best interest to put in a bid for him as quickly as possible.

As a matter of fact, I already had Pierce on my bench in the event that something like this happened, and already added him before writing this article. That is how valuable Pierce will be and how quickly he will jump off of the waiver wire this week.
