Week 9 Fantasy Football Dark Horse Sleeper: RB DeMarco Murray

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

With all the bye weeks this weekend, there are not many guys that fantasy football owners can start with confidence. Six teams are off this week, and with that, some big name running backs will be at home. Since there is such a depleted field for backs this week, a dark horse sleeper to take a shot on is RB DeMarco Murray of the Dallas Cowboys.

Murray has missed the last two weeks after spraining the MCL in his knee in Week 7 against the Washington Redskins. Murray was reportedly close to playing this past week, but the team decided to be cautious and give him an extra week. He is on track to be back in action for Week 9 and will be a great flex starter.

Dallas has an outstanding matchup this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have allowed nine rushing touchdowns already this year and the defense is currently allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing backs. Minnesota is giving up an average of 113.7 rushing yards per game and any back is a worth starting against the Vikes. This is an ideal matchup for Murray to get back on track and show he is healthy.

As long as Murray is cleared to play this week, he should be in your lineup. He has a very favorable matchup and should have no problem getting into the end-zone at least once in Week 9.
