Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Avoid C.J. Miles

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers are really starting to heat up this month. The Cavs have won four of their last seven games, and ever since adding SF Luol Deng in this month’s big blockbuster trade, the team has been much more productive offensively. Despite the team’s offensive onslaught, though, one player for  fantasy basketball fans to avoid is C.J. Miles.

Miles was red-hot from the field before the Deng trade and the 26-year-old posted double-digit points in the first six games of the month. He averaged a healthy 19.8 points per with 3.5 triples per contest. Miles even had an amazing 34-point effort against the Philadelphia 76ers this month in which the forward was shockingly 10-14 from behind the arc.

However, the addition of Deng has severely limited the amount of playing time that Miles has received on nightly basis. The veteran has recorded double-digit points just once over his last four contests, while playing a meager 23 minutes per game. He has obviously been relegated to back up duty since Deng has come into town and it has all but killed his fantasy appeal.

Miles is only owned in 25% of ESPN formats and the veteran is too risky to pickup at this point in the year. There are plenty of other options out there, so don’t hang onto Miles simply because of his brief hot-streak.
