Dez Bryant Fantasy Football Week 8 Projection

Dez Bryant

I have already talked about how well Terrance Williams will fare this week, but of course, he isn’t the only Dallas Cowboys wide receiver primed for success; Dez Bryant is a week to week success.  It seems odd to say that multiple receivers in Dallas are going be great fantasy options week in and week out, especially with the great success DeMarco Murray has had. Typically, there’s no room for more than three great options, but as the Cowboys continue to roll over the league this season, they’ll continue to produce top options like Bryant, especially this week against the Washington Redskins.

In seven games against the NFC East rivals, the Pro Bowl wide receiver averages nearly 11 points per game; and in their last meeting, he topped off with 73 yards and a TD.  Bryant’s season stats are usually boosted by his knack for yardage — compared to Williams’ success in the end zone — and account for roughly 70 percent of his season point total. And after last week’s second-half performance in which he saw seven targets (all caught) from Tony Romo, he’ll continue to get high yardage totals this week. But in his seven games against the Redskins, his yardage only covers slightly less of his overall make up of points as TDs are more prevalent.

Bryant has caught four touchdowns in three games against the Redskins. So while he’s gone touchdown-less in four games, he does have a big game factor against them, scoring 26 points in a 2012 home matchup like this week. With the Cowboys running on their six-game win streak, something is obviously working, and given that backup TE Gavin Escobar had a multi-TD game last week, there’s great possibility Romo leans on a single player more often this week. That will likely come in the form of Bryant.

He hasn’t had a multi-touchdown game yet this season, but after two straight weeks with no TD, it’s about time that changes. The Cowboys should glide through this game, so Bryant won’t need to be the X-factor. But he’ll look that part, racking up about 100 yards with two touchdowns this week in a home victory over the rival Redskins.
