Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB Denard Robinson

Denard Robinson

Melina Vastola-USA TODAY Sports

The running back position is in disarry. There seems to be one or two rushers going down with an injury every week. The good thing is that there is always a player waiting to earn a starting job. Denard Robinson has been that player for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and as a starting running back, he should be owned in all leagues.

After losing Maurice Jones-Drew to free agency, the Jaguars brought in Toby Gerhart to be the starter. He has missed multiple games with a foot injury. In relief, Robinson has shown off why he was exciting to watch in college. He has posted back-to-back 100-yard games with a touchdown. Robinson rushed 18 times for 108 yards (6.0 yards per carry).

Robinson, in just two games, has solidified himself as the No. 1 guy for the Jaguars. He has 329 yards on just 68 carries. In comparison, Gerhart has 52 carries for 133 yards. With no real competition behind him, this is Robinson’s job to lose.

Moving on to Week 9, Robinson will take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The defense has allowed opposing running backs to score 19.6 fantasy points per game. While the Jaguars aren’t winning many games, there are some bright spots on the offense.

With many running backs going down or not performing, Robinson should be picked up immediately. He is currently owned in just 16.4 percent of ESPN.com and 15.0 percent in NFL.com leagues. Start running backs Eddie LacyMatt ForteReggie Bush and Joique Bell will all be on bye this week, making Robinson a hot pickup.
