Eli Manning and the New York Giants offense has as many weapons as they had before Victor Cruz was lost for the season in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. After missing the first four games of the year, Odell Beckham Jr. made his debut in Week 5, hauling in four passes for 44 yards and a touchdown. In Week 7, he stepped up for the injured Cruz and grabbed two more touchdowns.

It’s now Week 11 and Beckham is clearly the Giants’ most valuable playmaker as well as Manning’s new favorite target. After the Week 8 bye, Beckham had eight catches for 156 yards on Monday Night Football. The Giants’ run defense did not show up against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, but Beckham did. He had seven catches and his second consecutive 100-plus yard game.

In a year full of outstanding rookie wide receivers, Beckham is right near the top. He has double-digit fantasy point performances in four of his first five NFL games.

This Sunday the Giants host the San Francisco 49ers, who have been riddled by injuries and suspensions on the defensive side of the ball. The latest casualty to the 49ers defense is their leader Patrick Willis, who will miss the remainder of the season due to toe surgery. San Francisco will welcome Aldon Smith back this week, but will have to live without NaVorro Bowman for at least one more game.

Despite the problems for the 49ers’ defense, they still allow the seventh-fewest rush yards per game. Although Rashad Jennings is expected to return this week, the Giants should expect to rely more heavily on the passing game, which would be good news for Beckham Jr.

The 49ers are allowing over 23 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers, which is the 13th most in the NFL. San Fran has allowed a total of 17 passing touchdowns this season, 12 of those being to wide receivers, which is the third-most in the league.

Beckham has been playing at an extremely high level, and has developed a great rapport with Manning. Beckham has excellent speed and hands, which makes him a difficult matchup in man-to-man coverage. With Smith back, the 49ers may send the blitz more to increase their fifth-fewest sack total, which will allow Beckham to get open in one-on-one situations.

Fantasy owners of Beckham should start him without as much as a second thought. Manning has played well himself and will get Beckham the football like he has the last two games. Expect another double-digit fantasy performance from the rookie out of LSU.
