And the Jake Peavy saga continues.

Initially scheduled to start tonight, Peavy was scratched early Tuesday morning amid rumors that he was going to be traded. Earlier in the week, Peavy had already cleared his belongings out of the clubhouse and had expressed his desire of wanting to be traded to a contender.

It seemed like the Chicago White Sox were going to make this happen, as Peavy was one of the top targets on the market. His suitors included the Boston Red Sox, Oakland Athletics and in somewhat of a late addition to the mix, the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While Peavy may still be traded, there are some indications now that he is now staying in Chicago.

The White Sox had talked about working on an extension with Peavy, intent on keeping him as the franchise player to build their future around. But since Peavy had value on the trade market, the team decided to listen to offers on him as well.

It appeared late Tuesday afternoon however that the White Sox were struggling to get an offer that enticed them. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Athletics have backed out, as the price tag seems to high, and the Red Sox have been debating that price tag as well. However, with an unwillingness to part with top prospect Xander Bogaerts, which is what it is reportedly going to take to get Cliff Lee away from the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston might be back in the Peavy sweepstakes.

Or, if moving the start is any indication, Peavy, who has respect and admiration for the White Sox, might be staying with Chicago after all.
