Midway through this season Jake Peavy was struggling and looked to be on the downside of his career. Since he was traded to San Francisco, he quickly turned things around. He went from a pitcher who was destined for only a one-year contract to a player who will should sign somewhere for a multi-year deal. Here is a look at the five most likely teams he could be pitching for next season.

Theo Epstein made it very clear that he expects the Chicago Cubs to compete in 2015. With a young lineup, Peavy could be a veteran arm that could solidify their rotation. By signing him, the Cubs would show they truly are ready to contend.

The Miami Marlins have a bright young team and one of the best players in all of baseball in Giancarlo Stanton. By locking up Peavy, they would add a veteran leader who could help to put them over the top in the wide open National League East.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

On paper, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the best team in baseball, but in October, they have too often been on the outside looking in. They have the best top-two starters in the league in Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke. Getting Peavy would make their rotation even deeper.

2. St. Louis Cardinals

Whenever Peavy has been on the trading block, the St. Louis Cardinals have been rumored to have interest. Recently Peavy spoke on the Cardinals winning tradition and baseball-city feel. If he wants opportunities for more titles, there may not be a better place to go than St. Louis.

Sometimes, just having a familiar face can turn things around. After reuniting with former manager, Bruce Bochy, Peavy has become dominant again. With a team that is always competitive, there is little reason for him to leave San Francisco.
