The Houston Astros have been the most surprising team in all of MLB. The Astros are currently tied with the Kansas City Royals for the best record in the American League at 22-13, and lead the American League West by 4.5 games over the Los Angeles Angels. The team has an opportunity to build themselves a nice little cushion if they can get hot over the next few weeks, and the best way to accomplish that feat is to call up the best player in the entire organization, Carlos Correa.

Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow, showed earlier this month that he wasn’t concerned about waiting for Preston Tucker to reach the Super-Two deadline, and Tucker has been mainly used as a bench player, even though he was rated as the Astros 10th-best prospect before being called up. Luhnow has also said that he is going to have the best players on the team, no matter what it does to their Super-Two statuses. He keeps saying and doing these things, but he refuses to bring up Correa, who is better than any player on their current roster and could help them actually win the division.

Correa has torn up every level of minor league baseball he has played at, and is hitting .369, with a .450 OBP, seven home runs, 32 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases through 32 games this season between Double-A and Triple-A. He also possesses a lifetime .316 batting average and .396 OBP in his five-year minor league career. Correa has proven time and time again that he is too good to be hanging around the minor leagues, and it’s a waste of his talents keeping him at a level where he is clearly superior to his competition.

Luhnow has always been a general manager that I could never figure out. When I think he is going to zig, he zags, and vice-versa. In this case, if Luhnow waits too long to call Correa up to the big leagues, it could cost his organization their first division title since 2001. It’s your move Luhnow. The entire MLB landscape is waiting on you to come your senses.
