The San Diego Padres had sky-high expectations after having a huge offseason. They have been an extremely underwhelming team all season due to several injuries. Many have said that the Padres need to think about making some trades to replenish their farm system. Here are the top five most likely players they will trade.

5. Andrew Cashner

Cashner started the season with some bad luck as he has had some of the lowest run support in MLB. At one point he had an ERA under three but a 1-7 record, so he is still a very talented pitcher. He has also had plenty of injury concerns, so the Padres should trade him while his stock is high and before his injuries come back.

4. Will Venable

Venable has filled in brilliantly for Wil Myers while he has been injured. That being said, he is also 32 now and has a pretty high value for a team looking for some outfield help. This is also the last year of his contract. Venable will not be as expensive as some other players that will be on the market, but he will still land the Padres a few prospects to refuel their farm system.

3. Ian Kennedy

Kennedy has been a very talented pitcher for the last few seasons. He hasn't been nearly as good this season overall but should have good value for teams seeking starting pitching help. He is in the final year of his contract and could bring in a nice haul for the Padres.

2. Joaquin Benoit

This is the last year of Benoit's two-year deal, and he isn't getting any younger. Playoff-bound teams are always looking for good bullpen help, especially when they have closing experience. Benoit has been very good out of the Padres' bullpen the last two years and should bring them plenty of prospects in return.

Upton is off to a great start this season, and with the way the Padres have been playing, he may not re-sign in the offseason. Upton is only 27 years old, so the Padres could name just about any price for him. If the Padres don't think he will re-sign with them, then nabbing a bunch of prospects to give them a much better farm system is the best option.
