After a rough week for many drivers and steady Fantasy NASCAR contenders at Richmond International Raceway (Brian Vickers, Kyle Busch, and Brad Keselowski), the series heads to Talladega Superspeedway for the Aaron’s 499.

Fantasy NASCAR compared to other fantasy sports always has more of a luck based aspect as almost anything can happen on the track. If someone spins out in front of you and you can’t avoid them that’s the end of your day. This makes things hard to predict on a regular basis. Then the Sprint Cup comes to Talladega, home of the Big One.

The Big One notches up the unpredictability of NASCAR exponentially. When the Big One goes down it can be impossible to avoid as it sweeps up a huge chunk of the field. The Big One makes predicting good picks for this week more difficult than usual.

There are some drivers who have proven themselves capable of dodging the Big One and taking a trip to victory lane at Talladega. Some favorites who can be counted on to do their best to avoid disaster are Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Clint Bowyer. Keselowski is my main pick for the week as he won this race last year and absolutely needs a win to jettison him back to the top of the standings.

This week there are some higher price drivers that you are going to just want to avoid. This list includes the big names of Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards who both have trouble at Talladega. These two are just too expensive to put on your team only to get caught up in the Big One in the final laps.
