2013 NBA Draft Prospect Profile: Keion Bell, Shooting Guard, Missouri

Dak Dillon-USA Today Sports

Name: Keion Bell

Age: 22

Height: 6-foot-4

Position: Shooting Guard

School/Country: Missouri

Latest Stats: 10.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.2 spg

After three seasons at Pepperdine, 6-foot-4 shooting guard Keion Bell wanted a taste of some higher competition. He made the decision to transfer to Missouri and after sitting out the 2011-12 season — Bell took the court one final time this past season. He averaged 10.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 2012-13, becoming an important piece in head coach Frank Haith‘s back court, especially after the dismissal of former Tigers guard Michael Dixon Jr. His draft stock and projection at this point however, don’t suggest that he will hear his name called on that final Thursday in June.

Bell has undeniable athleticism. He can leap through the roof — literally. Take a look at the video clip below if you don’t believe me. He once dunked over six people at the Tigers’ Midnight Madness event prior to the season:

Strengths: Bell is widely-known for his high-flying athletic ability. At 6-foot-4, he has decent size for the shooting guard position, but it’s that through the roof athleticism that makes him an NBA caliber prospect. Bell has pretty good offensive skill set — he can get to the rim and step out and knock down the three ball. During his time at Pepperdine, he averaged over 18 points in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

Weaknesses:  You could blame the quick, one year transition, but Bell’s numbers fell down at Missouri in comparison to what he was producing prior to transferring. Bell moved to a higher level with his transfer, so that’s a pause for concern considering he averaged eight less points with the Tigers. Bell needs to attack the rim more, but it’s tough to tell for just how long his athleticism will carry him.

Draft Projection: Undrafted
