Perhaps the most important piece of equipment an NBA player can ever own is a pair of shoes. Basketball fans worldwide constantly attempt to emulate their idols by purchasing said athletes' signature sneakers. In recent years, the market for basketball shoes has ballooned into an empire resulting in countless commercials promoting sneakers. Here are the 15 best.

15. Air Jordan Melo M10 "Fortune Teller"

Carmelo Anthony has been an Air Jordan wearer for years now, and prior to the release of his most recent model, the Melo M10, Jordan put together a variety of hilarious commercials featuring a popular New York comedian, Chris Distefano.

14. Fila Grant Hill III feat. Bill Laimbeer "You're Too Nice"

Today, Fila is famously blamed for ruining Grant Hill's NBA career just when he was on the verge of peaking. Before terminating his sponsorship with Fila, Hill was featured in a commercial along with his former Detroit Pistons teammate Bill Laimbeer.

13. Dwyane Wade Air Jordan 2010 "Nightmares"

Back before Dwyane Wade's knees were shot, he was a force to be reckoned with when driving into the paint. Whether it be his signature side step or simply dunking over the opposing team, Wade constantly struck fear into those defending him. This commercial for the Air Jordan 2010 shoe perfectly exemplifies Wade's tenacity.

12. Nike Kobe VII System Supreme

A few years back, Nike collaborated with Kobe to introduce the Kobe System, offering a high-top and low-top insole. Aside from being a massive success, Bryant as always demonstrated his impressive marketing skills.

11. Nike Air Force Max Charles Barkley Edition

This commercial ties into the whole idea of Charles Barkley's "I am not a role model" campaign. Aside from debuting his first signature sneaker, Sir Charles goes on to blatantly state, "It will not make you dunk like me. It will not make you rich like me." Well, that's Barkley for you.

10. Converse Weapons feat. NBA Hall of Famers

It's not often that we witness former NBA greats like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas and Kevin McHale rapping. Well, that's exactly what we see in this commercial for the Converse Weapons, and it's amazing.

9. Air Jordan "It's Gotta Be the Shoes"

When the Air Jordans first debuted, Michael Jordan and Spike Lee created a series of commercials for each edition. This particular commercial promotes the whole Air Jordan brand itself while still getting the point across: Buy more Air Jordans.

8. Nike Kobe VII System feat. Kanye West

Backtracking to the Kobe VII System, one commercial featured popular recording artist Kanye West. When Bryant attempts to offer some advice to West, his response is absolutely priceless.

7. Nike KD VII "Be the Baddest"

Throughout his career, Kevin Durant has often been criticized for his mentality, his physical attributes and his demeanor as a whole. Durant responds to the harsh criticism in this commercial promoting his newest signature shoe, the Nike KD VII.

6. Reebok Allen Iverson A7

Shockingly, Allen Iverson failed to ever win an NBA title, coming up short time and time again. Iverson may not have appeared to be visibly frustrated on the surface, but this Reebok commercial suggests otherwise.

5. Adidas Derrick Rose 4 "Basketball is Everything"

Athletes are often accused of being greedy, fame-hungry people who are solely in the field for the cash benefits. There is certainly no denying the money can be enticing, but basically what it boils down to is that these athletes devote their lives to sports in hopes of one day making it. The risk is so high, yet the love for the game is that much higher. Derrick Rose expresses this in his commercial entitled "Basketball is Everything."

4. Nike Kobe VIII System "Count On Kobe"

Shortly after the Kobe VII System, Nike launched the Kobe VII system and the "Count on Kobe" campaign. This commercial was clearly a success as countless tweets included the hashtag #CountOnKobe.

3. Air Jordan I "Banned Shoe"

Believe it or not, when the Air Jordans were originally created, NBA Commissioner David Stern banned the sneakers for giving an unfair advantage to those who wore them. As you would suspect, Michael Jordan rocked the sneakers anyway -- in spite of the fact that he was fined \,000 each time he did so. Eventually, the NBA came to its senses and allowed the launch of an empire.

2. Nike Zoom LeBron VI

On top of being the best baller in the world today, LeBron James has also starred in arguably the funniest basketball shoe commercials in recent memory. There are many great ones out there, but this one makes the list for being so wrong ... yet so right at the same time. Smooth moves, King James.

1. Converse Weapon "Bird and Magic Shoe"

The commercial itself was great for the sole fact that it featured the beloved Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, but what the filming of this commercial did was create the long-lasting friendship between the two rivals. During the lunch break, Bird's mother invited Johnson into their home to share a meal with Bird. One thing led to another, and the two actually ended up speaking. They have been friends ever since.
