Dwyane Wade Quiets Miami Heat Doubters vs. Houston Rockets

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

It seems like all the people who doubted Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are shivering after last night’s game against the Houston Rockets. The Miami Heat came back and eventually won with Wade scoring 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field.

While I don’t want to pin the story being on Wade scoring points in bunches, I do want to make a mention of it. We knew that Bosh was going to try and help this team scoring the way he does because of the size of his contract. Miami is counting on him to give them scoring and defense.

But everyone doubted Wade. They doubted his ability to finish around the basket. They doubted his ability to make jump shots. They doubted his ability to create for others. Yet he was able to do that yesterday without any trouble. He looked nimble and very fresh. As I have written about in previous articles, this is a year where the superstar formerly known as Way of Wade makes a resurgence. He has been in the background of a noisy run at championships with LeBron James, but he wants to show that he can, and has, done it without him.

As I have also written about, I think that Mario Chalmers has to be part of this attack. This may not be in the traditional “starting point guard” role that has been used to playing. But it may be as a combination guard that Eric Spoelstra asks him to play in order to provide an off the bench scoring surge with the second unit.
