The start of the NBA season is prime for making overreactions about teams. A couple of bad nights in a row suddenly turns into a six-month projection. The Pistons' rough start has certainly created its fair share of reaction from the fanbase. It's not a good idea to put a lot of stock into most of the reactions, but there is generally a little bit of truth to each. Here are the top five overreactions for the first week of the Pistons' season.

It's not a good start if you thought this was the year Brandon Jennings puts everything together. He has once again struggled shooting the ball and hasn't been able to get the offense going. D.J. Augustin has outplayed him so far, but it's too early to make a change.

Josh Smith is an overreaction magnet. Unfortunately, for him the overreactions end up being true in most cases. He's shooting 31 percent from the field; yes, it's that bad. Smith is also still shooting threes, which he is 0-for-7 on so far this season. There was hope that Stan Van Gundy would find a way to tap into Smith's potential, but so far he looks like the same old player.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is supposed to be a really good outside shooter. However, he has yet to show that ability on a consistent basis. The good news is that it's only been four games, but he struggled with his shot last year as well. If it doesn't turn around soon then this will be another overreaction that turns true.

The hiring of Stan Van Gundy was a consensus good move by Detroit. Four games has changed a lot of minds. I think this overreaction has the least credence to it. Some have said his lineup choices have been questionable, which after four games is being overly critical. It will take a little time for him to figure out the rotation and how he wants to use each player.

All of the overreactions lead to one general idea that the Pistons will once again be a losing team this year. A 1-3 start isn't the end of the world, unless you're talking about Cleveland. There haven't been a lot of positives so far, but things can change fast in the NBA. In another week there will likely be five new overreactions.
