Many people agree that if LeBron James wanted to, he could have been an NFL star. With the body of a tight end, the speed of a wide receiver and just flat out ridiculous athletic ability — he could be have easily taken his talents to the gridiron instead of the hardwood. But despite all of that potential and his love for the game, The King has no intention of letting his sons play football.
I was surprised Friday when LeBron told me he doesn’t let his sons play football. Only basketball, baseball & soccer in his house.

James’ stance puts him in a growing group of American parents who don’t want their children exposed to the risks of playing football. While LBJ’s decision by itself isn’t a huge deal, it definitely pulls more weight than an average Joe not allowing his children to play. The more high-profile athletes/celebrities who speak out against football, the less kids will participate. Eventually, high school, college and pro football will feel the impact of this new movement.
