Houston Rockets Should Strongly Consider Trading Patrick Beverley

The Houston Rockets are off to a fantastic start this season, sitting 5th in the Western Conference with a 9-3 record, and touting one of the best one-two combos in the league in James Harden and Dwight Howard. Even with all of the recent success, the Rockets are still lacking depth in the frontcourt, which is why they should consider trading Patrick Beverley.

Beverley, although injured, was off to a stellar start in the six games he played. He was averaging 11.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, and shooting 48 percent from the field. All of these numbers are career highs, which is a pretty big indicator of how productive he has become as a starting player. Unfortunately, the Rockets have enough depth at the guard position to take a potential hit by trading Beverley for a quality frontcourt player.

Beverley’s stock has never been higher (even with his current injury), and it would be a good time to trade him for a center who could backup Dwight Howard. Outside of Terrence Jones, there isn’t a lot of quality depth in the frontcourt rotation, and having another rim protector would keep the bench playing at a high level. Not to mention, the Rockets’ guard position has more quality players in the rotation, so losing Beverley would not be as damning as losing Howard to injury and not having a center to replace his production.

Beverley would be a great fit with any team in the league, whether starting or coming off the bench, and the type of player the Rockets could get in return could help vault them to the top of the Western Conference.
