The Boston Celtics are 3-2 on their 6-game road trip after defeating the Utah Jazz 99-90 Monday night. A second-quarter rally was critical for the win as Utah had a rally of their own in the third. The Celtics found productivity in an unlikely place with Tayshaun Prince who had 19 points and 5 assists on the night.

The Celtics are finding ways to win and playing with more heart than ever. After the departures of Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green the Celtics were officially in tank mode. However, “tank” is not in the vocabulary of coach Brad Stevens.

The Celtics have shown an incredible amount of heart and grit on the road trip so far. Stevens has shown on this trip that he has incredible potential as a coach. With a star-less team of misfits, Brad refuses to lose. This fire inside him ignites the team as well and they are beginning to mesh very well.

Stevens is a winner, as he proved during his time with Butler. The losing is killing him inside. Not only does the losing kill him, he is invested in his job as the head coach of the Celtics.

There is no doubt that Stevens has playoff intentions. This season will be known as the season of the “tug-of-war” match between Stevens and his rag-tag Celtics and Danny Ainge and his merry band of executives.
