If you are a Florida Gators fan, you knew the bad news was coming: Billy Donovan is now the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder. All of the tears aside, this is a great move by the Thunder and it is an especially great move by Donovan.

Although you shouldn't need any reason to buy into Donovan, here are five reasons I believe he'll be transcendent.

Billy Donovan put the Florida basketball program on the map in a huge way. That will happen every single time a coach leads four teams to the Final Four. It goes without saying, but Florida is a football school, yet Donovan achieved the highest level of success while at Florida (he won championships).

Winning a national championship, at any level, is the toughest thing to do. However, Donovan managed to lead the Gators to two titles in a row. That simply does not happen very often in today's game. Well done, Billy.

It doesn't hurt to be in the perfect situation (or close to it), which Donovan clearly is in. The Oklahoma City Thunder don't need to rebuild. They can literally compete for a title next season. Now that is what I like to call a slam dunk for Donovan.

Kevin Durant is a top player in this league. Heck, he was the best player in the NBA last season. Durant did win the MVP, after all. As long as Durant sticks around in Oklahoma City, Donovan will be coaching the Thunder to the playoffs every single year. Oh yeah, Russell Westbrook is also on the team, so that doesn't hurt.
