5 Worst Draft Picks In Oklahoma City Thunder History

With the 2015 NBA Draft only a few weeks away, the Oklahoma City Thunder should be wary of letting history repeat itself. Here are five of the franchise's worst draft blunders in history.

5. Danny Vranes - No. 5 Overall (1981)

Vranes' career wasn't as sad as some of these others, but the fact that he was drafted ahead of Orlando Woolridge and Tom Chambers at No. 5 makes it worse. Drafted in 1981, he only averaged 4.5 points per game in seven years in the NBA.

4. Sherell Ford - No. 26 Overall (1995)

Even though Ford was only a late first-round pick, he still only appeared in 28 games. That's a disaster. He was expected to fill a void at the small forward position when he was drafted in 1995, but he essentially only filled a void on the payroll. He simply disappeared after that. Tough break.

3. Mouhamed Sene - No. 10 Overall (2006)

Sene was drafted from Senegal in 2006, but he only played 260 career minutes. He was best known for getting dunked on by J.R. Smith. Ouch.

2. Robert Swift - No. 12 Overall (2004)

Swift was a gifted high school player, but talk about going downhill quickly. He turned down his early commitment at USC and entered the 2004 NBA Draft at only 19 years old. He only averaged 4.5 minutes per game his rookie season, and then a year later he tore his ACL. After that, it only got worse. Bummer.

This was one of the worst draft day trades in NBA history, if not the worst ever. The then Seattle SuperSonics traded the No. 8 selection Scottie Pippen for this guy in 1987. Polynice was best known for being the only NBA player to ever get arrested twice for impersonating a police officer. I guess the Chicago Bulls got the best of that trade. Can you imagine Pippen paired with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp? The dynasty that never was.

James Harden Decided Against Contesting Russell Westbrook's Dunk

James Harden clearly isn't worried about what people think of his defensive inefficiencies. He proved this to be the case on Tuesday night, as he inexplicably gave Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook a clear lane to the basket after he turned the ball over during this sequence. Harden's a spectacular scorer, but he will likely never give enough effort on both ends to be a Hall of Famer.

Russell Westbrook Throws Down Massive Slam On 76ers

Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the most talked about point guard in the world, but Russell Westbrook might be the best all-around player at the position. This dunk is just one of a number of unbelievable plays he made against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio Devastates OKC With Game-Winning Three

The Oklahoma City Thunder have started to slump at the absolutely worst time as we enter the stretch run of the regular season, having lost six of their last 10 games. Russell Westbrook and Co. lost another close game on Friday night, as Minnesota's Ricky Rubio nailed a clutch three-pointer as time expired.
