After boasting one of the most explosive offenses in the NBA for most of the season, the Dallas Mavericks just could not hit their shots in the playoffs. Injuries and fatigue were no help either, so the 2015 NBA Draft will be the perfect time to bolster this roster at key positions. Here are the five best first-round choices for the Mavericks in the 2015 NBA Draft.

5. PG Jerian Grant – Notre Dame

Grant is a proven scorer who could be the future at the point guard position for this high-octane Mavs’ offense.

4. SF Sam Dekker – Wisconsin

Sam Dekker shot 68.7 percent from the floor against the Arizona Wildcats, Kentucky Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels. For those of you who avoid advanced stats, that’s the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in defensive efficiency per game. Talk about a talented player.

3. PG Cameron Payne – Murray State

I’m not as high on Payne as most people are. I watched him shoot 7-of-22 in a loss to the Belmont Bruins that he dominated from start to finish. However, he has the potential to be an excellent NBA player down the road.

2. SG Delon Wright – Utah

Wright can score, he can defend and most importantly, he’s smart with the basketball.

1. PG Tyus Jones – Duke

With the Rajon Rondo experiment failing, Raymond Felton and J.J. Barea being 30 and Devin Harris showing that he’s best from off the bench, a young point guard is a necessity. Jones could be one of the better players in the draft class a few years down the road, especially playing on a team with as talented of a roster as the Mavs.

Dirk Nails Game-Winner, Gets Love From Kobe

Kobe Bryant wasn't able to lace up for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, but he still managed to make the highlight reels on multiple occasions. After Dirk Nowitzki nailed what turned out to be the game-winning jumper, he stumbled backward into Bryant and received a pat of approval. This encounter is the definition of the saying 'game recognizes game' as the two players are both legends and future Hall of Famers.
