Fixing the Philadelphia 76ers In 5 Easy Steps

In the middle of an ongoing rebuilding plan, the Philadelphia 76ers have plenty of problems to fix before they can even become relevant again. While some may think that this task is not achievable, in actuality it is easier than one may think. With that in mind, here is how to fix the 76ers in five easy steps.

After spending the last two seasons at the bottom of the NBA, head coach Brett Brown has stated that he wants to see some improvement next season. The only way for the team to do this is by improving their talent. For the 76ers, throwing high-priced contracts to free agents will be the easy part, as they have plenty of cap space. The hard part will be trying to convince someone to actually take it.

4. Bring Over Dario Saric

The 76ers may want – and certainly need – Dario Saric, the No.12 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, to join their roster as soon as possible, but it will take some work. As a member of the club Anadolu Efes in Turkey, Saric cannot opt-out until the summer of 2016. As a result, if the 76ers want him over here this season, they will have to negotiate a buyout with his club – one that will likely be very expensive for Saric himself.

After a terrific rookie campaign, the 76ers now have a talented big man in Nerlens Noel that they can build around for the future. However, they still need one more. The logical choice would be Joel Embiid, but his long-term future is up in the air after another recent setback. With this uncertainty in mind, the 76ers should look to find another big man in this year’s draft.

2. Take Advantage of Draft Picks

Speaking of draft picks, the 76ers currently hold six of them in the 2015 NBA Draft. With five of them being second-round picks, the 76ers will not walk away from draft night with a group full of star players. However, if they use these picks wisely, they could walk away from the draft with a group of young players to supply some much-needed bench depth.

1. Draft A Guard

When the 2015 NBA Draft begins, the 76ers will hold the No. 3 overall pick. With that pick, they need to select one of the top guards in this year’s draft class. Whether it is D’Angelo Russell of Ohio State or Emmanuel Mudiay who played in China last season, the 76ers will get a talented young guard they can develop at a position of need in one of these two players.

Emmanuel Mudiay Devastates Philadelphia 76ers With Buzzer-Beater

The Philadelphia 76ers nearly cemented their fourth road win of the season on Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets. Philadelphia was up two points with just seconds remaining when rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay nailed a prayer shot from outside the arch as time expired to give the Nuggets a one-point victory. The 2015-16 NBA season can't end soon enough for the lowly 76ers, who are now 9-63.
