5 Trades The Philadelphia 76ers Should Make Before The Deadline

The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the worst teams in NBA history. The team has lost their first 16 games and aren't even scoring 90 points per game. General Manger Sam Hinkie was supposed to help put Philadelphia back on the map, but he has failed to do so thus far. Here are five trades the 76ers could make before the trade deadline that could stop the fans from going after Hinkie’s job.

Archie Goodwin has had potential for the last couple of years, but he hasn’t been able to get enough minutes with the Phoenix Suns. The 76ers should trade Hollis Thompson in an attempt to bring Goodwin to Philly. He could be a hidden gem for the 76ers and it is a low risk, medium reward deal.

Fans won’t appreciate this, but the more draft picks a team has the better. The 76ers could trade Jerami Grant to the Los Angeles Clippers to get C.J. Wilcox and a future draft pick in return. The Clippers could use a small forward and it’s not like any perimeter player the 76ers have is making an impact right now.
3. Carl Landry To The Timberwolves

One trade that could satisfy fans is getting a player like Ricky Rubio. Rubio can pass exceptionally well and he is still getting better offensively. A player like him could really revitalize a team. The 76ers would need to send Robert Covington, Carl Landry and a future first round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves to get Ricky Rubio and Adreian Payne.

Another deal involving Landry could be a three-way trade between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Mavericks would get Landry, the Timberwolves would get Raymond Felton and Charlie Villanueva. This would get the 76ers Nikola Pekovic and Shabazz Muhammad. The 76ers might have to take on Pekovic’s undesirable contract, but the team will get their future starting small forward in Shabazz Muhammad.

Although Joel Embiid has yet to play in the NBA, he does have potential. Several teams will be looking to see if he can become as good as he was projected. The 76ers could trade Embiid to the Celtics to get Marcus Smart and a future first round pick. Smart is a solid point guard, but the allure of this trade for the 76ers lies in the draft pick.
