After losing three straight games, the Miami Heat have managed to bounce back with two consecutive and impressive wins over the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks on back-to-back nights. Both victories have been striking from the standpoint that the team as a collective unit performed well, none more so than Chris Bosh. This was supposed to be a redemption season for the big man, and he has lived up to the hype so far.
Outside of being one of the primary focal points on offense, Bosh has been one of the Heat’s best defenders and rebounders this season. Averaging 8.4 rebounds per game (his highest average in a Heat uniform) has been largely due to Bosh playing both power forward and center positions, giving the stretch four more opportunities in the paint. Ironically enough, Bosh is also the Heat’s best three-point shooter, hitting on almost 40 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. That prestige typically belongs to a wing player, but Bosh has become lethal from that spot. In fact, Bosh is only two three-pointers shy of being the leading big man from beyond the arc this season in the NBA (that top spot belongs to Dirk Nowitzki).
Bosh has already tallied eight double-doubles this season. To put that in perspective, he hadn’t even hit seven of those midway through the season last year before being sidelined due to blood clots. Miami’s best player statistically is truly starting to hit his stride, and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Heat, who are about to hit a very unfriendly road stretch.
