About a week ago, the Charlotte 49ers announced their 2012-13 Mens’ Basketball Schedule and they definitely have some good opponents awaiting them. The 49ers’ season kicks off on November 9th as they will take on Charleston Southern (Big South). Also in this month they will take on the likes of Georgia Southern (Southern) and Lamar (Southland).

The 49ers will also compete in a tournament called the Great Alaska Shootout, which will take place between the 22nd-24th of November.  On the 22nd, they will play Texas State (WAC) and this game will be on the CBS Sports Network and then on the 23rd they will either play the winner of Oral Roberts (Southern) or Loyola Marymount (WCC). Finally, if they advance to the 24th, they will either play Belmont (Atlantic Sun), Alaska-Anchorage, Northeastern (CAA), or UC-Riverside (Big West).

This will take them into the month of December where they will take on some teams who have postseason experience. They will face teams such as Davidson (Southern), Miami (ACC), and Florida State (ACC) all at their places or on neutral court. The Florida State game which will be on December 22nd will be featured on the CBS Sports Network.

In the month of January, Charlotte will start Atlantic 10 conference play against La Salle at home and then will have the luxury of having Xavier, Massachusetts, new A-10 member VCU, Temple, and Dayton all coming to Halton Arena.

But they will have to travel to Butler on January 13th and Saint Louis on January 16th which will not be an easy couple of games as both teams played in postseason tournaments last season.
