2013 PG Roddy Peters Announces Decision in Favor of Maryland

Standing at 6-foot-4, Roddy Peters has molded himself into one of the top point guards from within the class of 2013.

By way of District Heights, Maryland, Peters had been heavily recruited throughout his days at the high school level and this came as no surprise given his improving talent, strength and play making ability.

On Tuesday morning however, Peters made the decision to end that recruitment, announcing his commitment in favor of Maryland and head coach Mark Turgeon.

Peters visited Xavier back on Aug. 24 and continued his trips with stops at Rutgers (Sep. 21) and UCLA (Oct. 6). Peters was originally scheduled to visit Kansas this upcoming weekend, but the recent back court additions for the Jayhawks may have been what ultimately pushed Peters away. Just last week, Kansas landed a commitment from point guard Frank Mason and then off-guard Wayne Selden popped for the Jayhawks on Monday.

Regardless, the Terrapins won the race for Peters’ services, as the guard pledged his commitment just after 9:00 a.m. (EST) on Tuesday. Peters joins the previously committed Damonte Dodd among Turgeon’s commitments from the class of 2013.

The addition of the in-state product is a big pledge for the Terps, especially after losing out on both Andrew and Aaron Harrison just two weeks ago. Peters currently attends Suitland H.S. (MD) and ran with the DC Assault during his time on the AAU circuit.

According to Rivals, Peters is listed at No. 39 overall from within the senior class. ESPN lists the talented lead guard at No. 43.
