The Ole Miss Rebels have started the season 6 – 0, a much better start to the season than anyone except Rebels fans would have believed.

After finishing last season with a late run to narrowly miss the NCAA tournament and a great run in the NIT, Ole Miss has picked up where they left off last season. The Rebels, behind the offensive trio of Reginald Buckner, Murphy Holloway and Marshall Henderson, are leading the SEC in scoring and second in rebounding. Ole Miss has trounced a majority of their opposition, winning by an average of 20 points a game. Ole Miss was expected to be a contender in the SEC, but nowhere near as talented as the Rebels have looked to be to start the season. Basically, Ole Miss is dominating all opposition in every aspect of the game.

The Rebels’ next game is Dec. 8 against the only team that has challenged the Florida Gators, the best team in the SEC, all season: the newly C-USA bound Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. MTSU looks to be tournament bound and a win against Ole Miss should solidify their belief in March dreams. Ole Miss has yet to be challenged so far this season, despite playing a few talented teams. Saturday will be their first real test of the season. Should they pass, Ole Miss will become a very real threat to Alabama’s expected dominance of the SEC West. Ole Miss, with a win against MTSU, has one of the easiest off season schedules in the SEC and could cruise into the first round of SEC play undefeated.
