Charlotte 49ers Stay Undefeated as Record is Now 9-0
Yes everybody, the surprise team in the Atlantic 10 conference the Charlotte 49ers have won again today! They defeated Central Michigan 78-66. Nobody expected Charlotte to start 9-0 this season and they are winning games in a variety of ways.
Today, the 49ers defeated Central Michigan with hot shooting and not turning the ball over. Charlotte shot 49 percent from the field and only turned the ball over nine times. When you shoot like that and take care of the ball, you should win every game and Charlotte has.
The 49ers were led by junior guard DeMario Mayfield in scoring today with 15 points. Mayfield came off the bench in today’s game but don’t overlook their starting lineup. Freshman guard Denzel Ingram had a pretty efficient game scoring 13 points and shooting 5 of 7 from the field and 3 of 5 from the three point line. He would also go onto dish out five assists.
This was Ingram’s second highest scoring game this season. He is only averaging 6.5 points per game this season. His career high in points came against Lamar (Southland) on November 17th. In that game he would go onto score 16 points.
Interesting enough the Charlotte 49ers are they only undefeated team left in the Atlantic 10 as Temple fell to Duke this afternoon. We will see if the 49ers can stay undefeated as they huge road game on December 14th against the Miami (FL) Hurricanes. The last time the Hurricanes played was last Saturday when they defeated UMass.
Can Charlotte do what UMass couldn’t? We will see and if they can beat the Hurricanes next Saturday then this 49ers team might just be a sleeper team in the Atlantic 10.
