St. John’s Red Storm Need To Get Off To A Hot Start

Just like any team, the St. John’s Red Storm need to get off to a hot start in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

The Red Storm have disappointed over the last couple of years and just like the last couple of years–entering the new season–St. John’s will have high expectations.

This team clearly could not get the job done last season finishing with a 17-16 record. It needs to prove to the college basketball world and itself that it can be a force in college hoops. The talent will certainly be there with the Red Storm basically having the same team as last year. However, this same team disappointed quite a bit, unless if you think a team finishing six games back in its conference is a good thing.

Steve Lavin has recruited some great players ever since taking over as the head coach, but he needs to finally show that he can coach these great players to victory. A lot of that will depend on a good offseason and players improving on both ends of the court.

However, it is a hot start that will help get this team on the right track. With that, confidence will be built and the Red Storm could even find themselves being ranked in the top 25. Also, more and more people would believe that this team could win the Big East Conference.

Making the NCAA tournament would also be a plus. It all starts with a hot start to the season for St. John’s, though.
