Terrance Shannon will be joining the VCU Rams for the 2013-14 college basketball season and people can expect him to have an instant impact for the team.

Without Shannon, VCU still would have likely had a top 25 team entering the season and it would have still been considered one of the best teams in the Atlantic 10 entering the season.

However, gaining a player that averaged 7.9 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Florida State Seminoles is a very good addition. His 6’8” stature will also be a blessing for the team’s frontcourt.

You definitely won’t be seeing Shannon sinking threes in the upcoming season since he took zero shots from behind the arc last year and both years before that. Still, he did manage to shoot 46.2 percent from the field which was actually down from the previous year (54.3 percent).

Who knows how Shannon will be worked into the lineup, but he will be a senior and an instant impact can be expected from him.

Many people are saying that this could be the best Rams team yet. That is saying a lot when VCU won 27 games last year and earned a No. 5 seed in the dance. If this will truly be the best Rams team in the program’s history, earning a No. 3 seed or even better should be a possibility.

I am sure Shannon will play a huge part in that. However, we cannot forget about the top two leading scorers returning and many other talented players.
